映画芸術科学アカデミーは、ロサンゼルスにて早朝に行われたライブストリームイベントにおいて、第98回アカデミー賞の最終候補（ノミネート）を正式に発表しました。
本年度は、24年ぶりとなる新部門「キャスティング賞（Achievement in Casting）」が設立され、映画制作におけるキャスティング・ディレクターの貢献が初めて評価されることになりました。
発表役を務めた女優ダニエル・ブルックスと俳優ルイス・プルマンによって読み上げられたリストには、多様なジャンル、分野、そして世界各国の作品が名を連ねています。日本の映画としては、残念ながら作品のノミネートはされませんでしたが、メイクアップ＆ヘアスタイリング賞において、『Kokuho（原題：国宝）』がノミネートされています。
